Kelowna Landscape Maintenance Tips for Summer!

Kelowna Landscape Maintenance Tips for Summer!

In the summer months, when the weather is hot, landscape maintenance is likely the last thing on your mind. However, keeping your yard neat and tidy will ensure that it stays in working order and is usable throughout the year. Generally, people use their outdoor spaces the most in the summertime. This is all the more reason to keep things looking their best. Besides staying on top of your yard will save you countless hours when it comes time to prep your landscape for winter. In this article, we will be sharing some of the things you should be doing this summer to keep your yard in tip-top shape. Follow along below to learn more!

Kelowna Landscape Maintenance Items to Add to Your To-Do List

  • Make Sure Your Irrigation is Working Properly

During the summer it is a good idea to routinely check that your irrigation system is working properly. This is especially important if you live on a larger property. You can test this by turning on each of the zones you have and making sure that the right areas are being watered. If you have drip lines, be sure to check that they are still in the right place and that all plants are getting irrigated. Sometimes, drip lines can move with pests or wind, so be mindful of this.

  • Clean/Repaint Your Patio(s) and Deck(s)

Another good item to add to your maintenance plan is cleaning and/or repainting your deck. Decks and patios can accumulate lots of dust and dirt during the summer. Especially in the Okanagan since it’s so dry. To keep your deck in good shape, simply grab the hose and spray it down. And, if you notice that the paint is starting to chip, grab a new can and give it a fresh coat. Not only will this up the appearance, but it will also help preserve the integrity of the structure!

  • Weeds, Weeds, Weeds!

Nobody likes weeding. But, it is a necessary task that keeps your garden beds looking nice and plants healthy. Weeding is easiest when you stay on top of it. So, try your best to get outside and weed once every one to two weeks. This will ensure that your home’s yard looks spic and span!
